Brian Eno Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in September. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All took part in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The song showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and proving that another narrative exists.”

The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
