Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
