Almost 55,000 families have reportedly been harmed by the weather, with their items and shelters destroyed.

Heavy storms over the last seven days have worsened the precarious circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the territory, according to aid agencies.

"Terrible" Night Creates Grave Threats

A spokesman characterized the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.

"The recent weather was really horrendous for the people. The storms were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," noted the spokesperson.

Authorities voice grave worry that children living in makeshift shelters in damp clothing will succumb to hypothermia and various ailments.

Fatalities and Significant Destruction

Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from the cold and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures caused by the storms.

Further statements put a higher number of casualties. Officials said that several homes had totally fallen and scores had sustained partial collapse.

  • Nearly 55,000 families affected by rains.
  • More than 40 official shelters severely flooded.
  • Many people required to find new shelter.

Aid Efforts Considered Insufficient

Organizations have stepped up distribution of tents, warm covers and garments since the ceasefire commenced, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to deliver that aid and to distribute it, but the magnitude of the requirements is so vast that we continue to see a great number of families and children who are really suffering nightly," cautioned one spokesperson.

Future Concerns and Ceasefire Terms

The next stage of the truce involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of personnel, and other terms.

Aid organizations have stressed the imperative for "greater and continuous aid to meet urgent and long-term needs."

The hostilities was sparked by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Later campaigns have caused a substantial number of fatalities in the area, according to health ministry figures.
