Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
