Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
