This 25-year-old has a contract featuring a substantial buy-out clause active for a short period at the start of the month. Recent reports indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his signature. Former suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to alternative options, potentially opening the door for teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute bid.

This English centre-back has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal due to run out in the close season, this represents the London club's final opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain.
