The former Liverpool manager states a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, post a game-changing near-decade reign featuring Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers who revere Klopp would embrace the possibility of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage another team within the country. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings multiple times weekly or constant media duties each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role due to the changes which secured the championship last campaign. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in every contest post heavy investment, though he denied the notion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a road accident with his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It’s not about the player himself, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results though it's a fact. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that on a personal level is challenging. Unbearable.”
