The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network introduced a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns was sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a serene talk show. In an era often defined by cynicism, this show's sincerity struck a chord and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and championed its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family navigate their everyday routines.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its current layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is currently streaming on HBO Max.
