The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating chaos and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while telling captivating, politically driven tales. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those things.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a new backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of people through this complex and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our common unconventional, daring approach to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
